Note from Gene: Sept. 2020
The pandemic has left many of us evaluating and changing habit patterns, and for the profession of counseling one key change has been to shift to more virtual sessions versus in person sessions.
I pray that you and your family are doing well in these challenging times. The Lord has been faithful in these last six months as I have continued to counsel doing video sessions from my house, and in July I began going into the office one day a week to see those people who desire face-to-face counseling.
During this time, I have been encouraged as some individuals that I have counseled 15 to 25 years ago, have reached out to me again for counseling or to refer friends. The statement often made is “I didn’t know you were still counseling”... and then the follow-up question, “are you ever going to retire?” I often explain that I don’t think retirement – the way we think about it – is biblical. It doesn’t mean that we don’t have to shift gears and slow down, which is the path I have taken as I have transitioned to counseling three days a week. At this point, I do not feel that I am led to stop doing the work that I have been called me to – therefore I am going to continue to counsel until God tells me differently.
Please call if you need help or refer others that have a need for a counselor. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
